Our Chinese take out place always gives us soy sauce, chop sticks, and fortune cookies. I keep the soy packets, which contain 1.5 tsp, and use them for stir fry at home. Bill uses chop sticks, I cook with them and more than a few end up in my garden, serving various functions. But the fortune cookies…..they are hard and mostly tasteless. Bill eschews them but I have uses for them.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

I break them into little pieces and put them in ice cream. They taste like bits of cone. I use pieces in oatmeal cookies for the crunch. I always read the fortunes inside.
Most people know that the fortune cookie is not from China, but entirely made in America, by a Chinese immigrant named David Jung. Or not. Perhaps a Japanese man created them. The origins are shrouded in mystery. You can look it all up with you are interested.
I have one taped to the inside cover of my sewing machine. It says “You are kind-hearted, hospitable, cheerful and well liked.” I liked that even if it does sound like Stuart Smalley. It cheers me occasionally.
But last week, we got 3 cookies with dinner. They made a story. The first cookie said “You will soon embark on a business adventure.” The second said “You will soon be crossing the great waters.” And the third said “Step by step you will ascend the staircase to success.” Guys, I guess I am destined for a trip. I can’t imagine what business would take me overseas but at least I will win.
What do you suppose it might be?
